Estudio anatómico de dos especies del género Abietopitys Krausel, procedentes de la serie nueva Lubecka prov. de Chubut, Argentina

Abstract

In this paper the author describes two new species of the genus Abietopitys Krausel: .A. crassiradiata and A. patagonim. They were found in strata belonging to the Nueva Lubecka Series, Lower Permian, in the Province of Chubut in Patagonia. So far, this genus was only known from South Africa, its stratigraphical record being uncertain. Only wood is preserved in these two species. They are related to the type especies of the genus, A. perforata Krausel in the presence of secondary thickenings in the walls of the ray cells. A new interpretation is given for these thickenings, which can be analogous ,with the spiral thickenings in nonpitted ray cells of some Lycopsida.
