Abstract
Four species of the genus Opisthogonimus Luhe, 1900 are reported, from the intestine of Waglerophis merremii (Wagler) (falsa yarara) at Aristobulo del Valle, Misiones Province, Argentina. One of these species is regarded as a new species of the genus, and described as O. misionesensis sp. nov. The presence of a cirrus-sac surrounding the ventral sucker in O. misionesensis sp. nov. allows it to be readily distinguished from other species of Opisthogonimus. O. interrogativus (Nicoll, 1914) Pereira, 1928 and O. fonsecai Ruiz and Lejo, 1942 are reported for the first time from Argentina, and O. megabothrium Pereira, 1928 is reported for the first time from W. merremii in Argentina. These species are briefly described. A key to the species of Opisthogonimus is presented.
